Greeley, Colorado

History

Early history

The town was named after Horace Greeley, a lawmaker and supervisor of the New-York Tribune, who came to Colorado in the 1859 Pike’s Peak Gold Rush.[11][12] It was established as the Union Colony in 1869,[13] a test idealistic culture, however the name was later changed out of appreciation for Greeley.[13] Governor Benjamin Harrison Eaton pronounced Greeley an authority city on April 6, 1886.[14]

Greeley was based on cultivating and farming, yet stayed aware of most current advancements as they developed. Latham

Greeley is situated in (or only west of) the territory recently involved by the Overland Trail station of Latham (initially called the Cherokee City Station).
